Experimental Practice Teaching Center, School of Environmental Science and Engineering（https://sebee.sjtu.edu.cn）operated and administered under the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Experimental Practice Teaching Center traces its origin back to the Central Laboratory founded in 2003. It received formal institutional approval in 2018, was designated a University-level Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching in 2019, and was awarded the title of Shanghai Municipal Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching in 2024. The center boasts more than 1,800 square meters of dedicated experimental teaching space, with a full suite of instruments and equipment valued at over 50 million RMB.

Responding to national demands for ecological civilization development and green low-carbon transition, the center delivers discipline-specific experimental courses to undergraduate students across 11 university-wide majors, including Environmental Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Marine Science, Pharmacy and other related fields. It is committed to strengthening students’ hands-on proficiency and innovative capacity, serving as a core platform for nurturing top-tier innovative talents.

1. Full overall administration of daily operations of the Experimental Practice Teaching Center;

2. Development and construction of the Shanghai Municipal Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching;

3. Development, science outreach and educational practice of the school’s Science Popularization Base;

4. Management and maintenance of large-scale biological analytical instruments and portable water treatment testing equipment at the center;

5. Completion of other work assigned by the School.

Experimental Teaching Specialist, Experimental Practice Teaching Center

1. Organization and delivery of all experimental practice teaching programs at the center;

2. Management and maintenance of the inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), wide-range particle size spectrometer, and portable atmospheric monitoring instruments;

3. Assistance in advancing the development of the Shanghai Municipal Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching and the school’s Science Popularization Base;

4. Completion of other work assigned by the School.

Experimental Teaching Specialist, Experimental Practice Teaching Center

1. Routine work of the school’s Branch Center for Teaching Development;

2. Laboratory safety management of the center;

3. Management and maintenance of gas chromatographs (GC);

4. Assistance in advancing the development of the Shanghai Municipal Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching and the school’s Science Popularization Base;

5. Completion of other work assigned by the School.

Tao Yanyan

Laboratory Administration Specialist, Experimental Practice Teaching Center

1. Maintenance and overhaul of all instruments and equipment at the center;

2. Logistical support of experimental instruments, chemical reagents, consumables and lab venues for all courses;

3. Archives management of the center, including the establishment, procurement, storage, stocktaking and reconciliation of asset ledgers and inventory cards for teaching supplies and lab equipment;

4. Financial administration of the center;

5. Completion of other work assigned by the School.
